Sd Kfz 251/1C (Stuka) (GE242) Mittlerer Schutzenpanzerwagen mit Wurfrahmen 40 The Stuka zu Fuss consisted of 6 rack mounted 28cm or 32cm Rockets fitted to the side of a standard Sd Kfz 251 half-track. Designed for close range support they could fire two different rounds, the 28cm High-explosive rocket and the 32cm jellied gasoline (napalm) rocket. They had a maximum range of 2300 meters and were fired electrically, much like the Panzerschreck. This product is no longer currently available for sale...

The rocket motors in the rear of each rocket were angled to create spin in flight to increase accuracy. Each rocket came in its own crate, which was fitted directly to a bracket fitted to the half-track via racking. The weapon was aimed by adjusting the vehicle’s position using sights fitted to the front of the half-track. The Stuka zu Fuss was usually issued to the 3rd Panzerpionier Zug (Platoon) of a Panzerpaionierkompanie and gave them devastating firepower at their call and at very short notice.

In Flames of War The Stuka zu Fuss gives you a lot of destructive power in one compact package and I think they are always worth considering when making up any German force.   They are only one-shot weapons, but you get a ranging attempt for each rocket until your bombardment hits. So with six rockets on the half-track a successful range-in during the first two attempts will result in re-rolling your misses as each rocket available (on ranging in) counts as one gun (so you’ll count as having 5-6 guns).

Though if you’re unlucky and fail all your attempts to range you have lost the weapon for the game. Though they may only have one shot during the game they have the advantage of each vehicle acting as a battery on it own. Each Stuka zu Fuss you have gives you another battery.
