Overview
So, if we look at what we get in the excellent value 21st Panzerdivision Army Deal (GEAB27) army deal, that will help decide what Formations to run (other than the obvious one on the box!). The army deal contains the following:

- 1 x Panzergrenadier Platoon
- 4 x U304(f) Half-tracks
- 6 x Lorraine Schlepper Self-Propelled Guns
- 1 x Sd Kfz 231 (8-rad) Armoured Car
- 1 x Sd Kfz 222 (2cm) Armoured Car
- 1 x Sd Kfz 221 (2.8cm) Armoured Car
- 1 x Lorraine Schlepper OP
- 10 x Unit Cards
- 1 x Destroyed Lorraine Schlepper Objective
- 1 x Crashed Typhoon Objective
- 20 x 21st Panzer Division Dice
- 20 x 21st Panzer Division Tokens and 2 x Objectives
- 2 x 21st Panzer Division Decal Sheets

This is not your normal army deal you usually see. Aside from the Panzergrenadier platoon (which are standard plastic sprues), all the resin and metal vehicles have been remastered. It also comes with two themed custom objective markers (destroyed Lorraine Schlepper and crashed Typhoon) and specific decals for the 21st Panzer division. To top that off, it comes with themed dice, tokens and standard flat objective markers. Cost for the army deal is more expensive but the remastered vehicles and extras are well worth it and you save more money overall with all the goodies inside the box!

Now this box has been primarily designed for running the German 21st Panzer Hotchkiss Assault Gun Company in the D-Day Compilation book. We will look at building a 100pt list around that first but the other potential list for this box is the 21st Panzer Panzergrenadier Company where we can also maximise what we get in the army deal and look at 100pt options.

1. 21st Panzer Hotchkiss Assault Gun Company
Onto the Formations themselves now, starting with the 21st Panzer Hotchkiss Assault Gun Company, let us look at what units comprise this Formation:
- 1 21st Panzer 7.5cm (SF) Hotchkiss Assault Gun Company HQ
- 1 21st Panzer 7.5cm (SF) Hotchkiss Assault Gun Platoon
- 1 21st Panzer 10.5cm (SF) Hotchkiss Assault Gun Platoon

Based on the Formation and what we get in the army, we can use all the army deal box and add a few extra blisters and boxes to get to 100pts! This is how it could look based on what is pictured on the box and D-Day German force diagram:

Five units for the Formation break. AA to protect the Assault Guns from enemy aircraft. No Less than THREE artillery templates with the two units of Lorraine Schleppers and one of Hotchkiss 10.5cm. We need some high-end AT to complement the AT11 from the Assault Guns, so 88s with AT14 fits the bill here. Assault Guns supported by armoured panzergrenadiers – maxed out the half-tracks for additional fire power when assaulting or defending. Recon to either get your assault troops into attack position with spearhead or use to distract your opponent on one flank. We have used everything out of the box to achieve it!

An alternative to the list above to provide some more high-end AT and keeping in the theme of open topped assault guns is by adding in some Hornisses:

Four units for the Formation count. We had to remove one of the Lorraine Schlepper units (only two artillery templates now) and reduce the number of half tracks for the armoured panzergrenadiers (from 7 to 4) to add in the mobile AT17 Hornisse tank hunters to keep to the theme of open topped assault guns.

|

The final Formation to look at is the 21st Panzer Panzergrenadier Company. The units that make up this Formation are:

We can still maximise what we get in the army deal by running this Formation with a couple of additional boxes:

Five units for the Formation break. Using everything in the box except for one Lorraine Schlepper. Three platoons of infantry – one in half-tracks and the others on foot. The two on foot can defend both objectives supported by 88s and assault guns. Three artillery templates to soften up the enemy with the third infantry platoon in half-tracks your mobile reserve. This is a good defensive force that can also counterattack when the time is right.

We can shake this force up a bit by adding in some more oomph in replacing the 88s with Jagdpanthers to give a more mobile feel and keep the theme of D-Day forces:

Four units for the Formation break now. Removed one of the foot infantry platoons and the 10.5cm Hotchkiss Assault Gun Platoon. Still a solid defensive force that can hold its own until the cavalry arrives! With reserves, you will have the Jagdpanthers and the Scout Troop to come on. With their high end AT17 and reach of 48”, they are a great reserve force to come to take out the enemy armour.
