Flames Of War Limberg: Peiper's Charge
By Allan Moors

On May 4th, a horde of gamers descended upon Diepenbeek for the Flames Of War Limburg event, Peiper’s Charge. When I walked in, I saw 22 generals spread out across 11 battlefields, looking fierce and ready for action. But first, there was an  urgent matter to attend to: coffee. Because even the bravest warriors need their  caffeine fix before charging into battle!

Generals gathered from Belgium, the Netherlands, and Germany for the event. The runners-up included Robby Notermans, Rob Hermans, Steven Breughe, Thomas  Rickal, and Gerben Boersema. The event featured a total of three games, each lasting  three hours.

For gamers who relish big battlefield games and stunning scenery, these events are like Christmas and their birthday rolled into one. I always feel a burst of inspiration when I’m amidst this passionate crowd. The organization took great care of the gamers, ensuring the hungry troops were well-fed with a delicious home-cooked lunch. In the afternoon, cake or pie appeared like magic, accompanied by another much-needed cup of coffee.

A highlight of the event was the demo booth hosted by Black Mushroom Workshop. This booth offered newcomers a chance to experience wargaming for the first time, aiming to win their souls for the dicegods. The demo booth was a hub of activity, drawing interest from both seasoned players and curious onlookers. Also Tabletopper was there with a stand. Tabletopper, Battlefront and Niels made sure the prizes were nicely distributed among the contestants, generously sponsoring the event.

The Flames Of War tournament in Diepenbeek was a resounding success. It was a day filled with strategic battles, fairplay, and community spirit. Participants left inspired and eager for the next session, having forged new alliances and honed their skills. The event not only showcased the strategic depth of Flames Of War but also highlighted the vibrant and supportive community that surrounds this beloved game.
