Team Yankee Nationals at Historicon 2017 held 14 July 2017 at Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center 2371 Carl D. Silver Parkway Fredericksburg, Virginia 22401, USA. Battlefront Miniatures is proud to announce that in co-operation with WWPD we will be hosting the first ever Team Yankee National tournament on July 14th 2017 at Historicon in Fredericksburg Virginia.

This event will serve as an opportunity for Cold War commanders across the country to test their metal in a trial by fire. The tournament will consist of three games, each two and a half hours long. The games will be scored using a new method developed by WWPD (Click Here). The purpose of the new scoring method is to provide a more diverse spread of points for a large one-day event, this will eliminate a large number of close ties and decrease the time it takes to score. The first round will be Warsaw Pact vs. NATO where possible; the second and third rounds will be matched by score.

We will have a significant amount of prizes for this event, from plaques and trophies to certificates for credit at the Battlefront booth. First, through third place will each receive a plaque, as well as a certificate to be redeemed that day at the Battlefront booth. Every participant will receive a Wolfgang’s Brattie Wagon objective. First place will receive $200, second place $150, and third place $100. Five awards will be given to the best general for each army; American, British, West German, East German, and Russian, excluding those who placed in the top three. Those that won best general will each be given a plaque and a certificate for $100. The best sport will receive a plaque as well as a $100 certificate. A group award for a team or club of four of more players will be given, this will include a trophy and a significant amount of sur-prize support. Players will have the opportunity to participate in a painting competition to be judged by Battlefront’s own Pete Simunovich and John Matthews. Only armies made entirely of Battlefront miniatures are permitted to enter the painting competition, meaning no model can be from a 3rd party manufacturer. The winner of the painting competition will be given a plaque and a $150 certificate.

Players must provide their army lists by June 30th by emailing them directly to [email protected]. Armies are permitted to be no more than 100 points in total across all formations. The sources that players may choose their armies from are limited to the following books: Team Yankee, Leopard, Panzertruppen, Afgansty Air Assault, Iron Maiden, and Volksarmee. Players are required to bring a printed copy of their army list, and the equivalent cards or army book. Ensure that your army list is written in such a way that your opponents can read and understand your force construction. Armies must be MYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) and contain no proxies. All models must be painted to tabletop standard, with at least three colours on each model.

Rules and regulations aside, this is intended to be a fun event. This event will be the largest Team Yankee tournament to date and will set the precedent for tournaments to come. Players will have a chance to meet other hobby enthusiasts to have three good games in one day. Come join us at Historicon 2017 in Fredericksburg Virginia for when the Cold War goes hot!
