4th Edition Launch Weekend in the UK and Europe 4th Edition Launch Weekend in the US

We take a look at the action from the 4th Edition Launch weekend event held in the US.
Showcase Comics
We were very pleased with the weekend. We ran a number of demonstration games using the El Alamein box set. Over the weekend eager customers cleared most of our initial wave of 4th Edition rulebooks and El Alamein boxes, and went through all 30 of the free rulebooks.

Over the weekend we handed out 60 copies of the free rulebooks! Even more encouraging were the 22 copies of the 4th Edition hardback rulebook that we sold. A steady stream of customers checking out the latest edition of Flames Of War made it an especially busy weekend for our store.

4th Edition Launch Weekend in the US Games N Stuff
Games N Stuff had a solid Saturday, with help from Battlefront. Local customers showed up in force, along with some that drove quite a good distance to be there for launch day.

Players rotated in and out of a 100-point game run by Brian Sullivan, and all seemed to really enjoy 4th Edition. Existing Flames Of War players are looking forward to the setting of the desert again – time to get out their old armies and add some more to them. The new sets look great the local Flames Of War community is looking forward to the new releases.

Game Empire
The good news: we opened at 10am and sold out of the hardcover rulebooks, and El Alamein starter sets by 11am.

The bad news: we opened at 10am and were sold out by 11am!

We have already ordered plenty more El Alamein starter sets and rulebooks, so if anyone missed out, don't worry – they'll be here soon.

GAJO Games, Utah.
We had an excellent launch weekend. We ran out of new books by the middle of Saturday – thanks to the US office for including more in last week's order. We ran assembly and painting sessions, small facilitated demo games and two larger multi-player desert games. The reaction from players was extremely positive. Everyone is really excited about the changes and cool new products.

Borderlands, South Carolina.
Borderlands has a proud tradition of a Flames Of War Summer Campaign Season. The timing couldn’t have been better, because Mark is busy writing up an in-depth Desert Rats versus DAK Mid War campaign for 2017.

The initial launch went well with demos, sprue assembly and a Late War Mega-Battle. 30 free rulebooks were given away and a dozen copies of El Alamein sold. Customers enthusiastically placed pre-orders for the upcoming army boxes and books.

We had 22 individuals from up to two hours away come in for the rulebook trade-in and 4th Edition demo day.  We had three separate workshops running all day on the changes to moving, shooting and assault with 4-5 people at a time per station rotating through.  As an added benefit we sold out of all my old 3rd Edition desert stock and units and this re-invigorated my crowd and focused them on Mid-War here, which was never very popular in the past. We had a fantastic time and everyone is already asking to start playing 4th Edition tournaments.

Brookhurst Hobbies
Steve, the manager at Brookhurst Hobbies writes: “We had a great kick-off for 4th Edition on Saturday. We sold out of everything by Sunday and gave out all of our free upgrade books (60 in total). Time for a reorder!”
