The Ardennes Offensive: German Forces in Lorraine and the Ardennes, September 1944 – February 1945

In December 1944 the German forces on the Western Front made one last major push in the Ardennes and Alsace-Lorraine, trying to split the Allied forces in half and force them to negotiate a peace treaty. It was a daring all-or-nothing gamble.

This hardcover 228-page compilation combines all the existing German lists from Blood, Guts & Glory, Devil's Charge and Nuts, along with brand new lists and updates to the existing briefings.

Campaigns and Scenarios
Firestorm Lorraine: Mini Campaign

Jökull Gíslason created this campaign covering the first battles of Lorraine using the Firestorm system. This campaign allows you to re-fight the battles of Lorraine on a grand scale. While the course and outcome of the real battles can’t be changed, the outcome of your campaign is up to you. Either side can win although the odds are in favour of the Allies then the Axis stand a chance if they can manage a breakthrough.

No matter who wins, the campaign is a great opportunity to play plenty of games, win glory for your army, and perhaps to meet new friends and rewrite history along the way!

Peiper’s Charge – Running the Gauntlet in the Ardennes Peiper's Charge
Running the Gauntlet in the Ardennes

To recreate Peiper’s daring march to the Meuse, we’ve put together a scenario. The format is a gauntlet scenario where the German player starts the game with a seriously huge task force and tries to make it to the end of a long table through roadblocks and demolished bridges. The American player has a series of small forces to spring on the Germans.

Stormbirds
The Messerschmitt Me 262 'Sturmvogel'

Few planes in history have changed everything we had previously understood. The Messerschmitt 262 was one such aircraft, ushering in a whole new era of fighter design. Mike Haught and James Brown cover the history of this iconic aircraft and describe some effective ways of painting its distinctive camouflage patterns.

Back when the three original soft-cover Bulge Intelligence Briefings were new, a keen Dutch Flames Of War player, Hans van Ginkel, was kind enough to send us some photos from his family’s visit to the locations of some of the battlefields of the Ardennes campaign.

Building 150. Panzerbrigade Kampfgruppe

Chris Townley’s favourite German Bulge list is 150. Panzerbrigade Kamfgruppe, representing the forces in Otto Skorzeny's Operation Griffin. Their role was to advance ahead of the German offensive, equipped with American equipment and English speaking soldiers so they could mix in with the retreating Americans, capturing key points and creating chaos.
